As the candles of Hanukkah remind us, even the smallest light can brighten the path forward. In a time where it feels like the world could use more listening and understanding, I find hope in the connections we've built, especially the friendships and stories we've shared over the years.

Also, I'm letting you in on a family favorite... my secret to perfectly crispy latkes.

A couple of years ago, while some were busy perfecting their sourdough during quarantine, I was deep in the latke game. My secret? SKIP THE STOVETOP SPLATTER AND FIRE UP THE BBQ!! Not only does it keep the smell (and oil) out of the house, but you can crank out a couple dozen at once. No need to pre-cook and warm; beacuse let's be real, nothing beats a hot fresh latke.

Here's What You'll Need:

• Large pan or baking sheet with lip to hold oil (IMPORTANT - Heat oil in the sheet/pan, adding cold oil to the hot pan could warp it)

• Your favorite latke recipe (I prefer Yukon gold potatoes with no flour at all)

• Try with avocado oil, much healthier than canola

• Once the pan and oil are hot, drop the latkes in, and let them fry... SIMPLE!
